Where did February go?!
While our only major event this month was Coffee House, we have spent a lot of time preparing for what is to come in March!
It was a fantastic night of music! All of our students did a great job, and for some of them, this was their first time performing for an audience ever! What I love about Coffee House is that while it is still a “real” performance, it is a more casual setting, just like musicians singing in a real coffee shop.
Here are some photos from the evening!
If you are on social media, look up Chesnee Choirs on FaceBook to see some videos from the evening! And if you haven’t come to Coffee House this year, make sure you come next year! The students would love to see more teachers in the audience!
On Tuesday, Viva Voce will be spending the entire day at Clemson University. We have lots of things planned, and they are all pretty exciting!
First, they will have another clinic with Dr. Bernaducci, the choral director there, to give them some ideas for our concert repertoire, and just to work with someone new! He gave us some great warm up ideas the last time he visited with us!
Then, we will take a tour of the Performing Arts building, and possibly a campus tour! (It’s on our itinary, but I’m not sure who is giving us the tour…or if that is something I will do…either way, I’m happy to show them the campus I love so dearly!!!)
Next, we will watch the Clemson Men’s Choir rehearse, as they will be getting a clinic with Cantus, a professional men’s a cappella choir, who will be performing later that evening.
We’ll grab dinner on campus, and hopefully pop in to see our friends TakeNote rehearse. The girls really enjoyed their visit last semester, so it will be nice to see them all again and see what they are working on!
Finally, we’ll attend the Cantus concert that evening. Last semester we saw Randy Tanky, a Charleston-based band that reimagined the music of the Gullah community. This concert is all choral singing, so I’m pretty excited about it! Hopefully the girls will enjoy it too!
Later in March, Dr. Lisa Odom, the voice professor at Clemson, will come to CHS to do a voice clinic with both of our choirs! She is an incredible vocalist, and I learned a lot about singing from her when I was her student!
That’s what is on our agenda these days! Always busy, always singing.
Have a great month! Stay well!
